Laut einer neuen Studie zeigen Krebspatient:innen eine hohe Bereitschaft, klinische Daten für Forschungszwecke zur Verfügung zu stellen. Patient:innen fordern hohe Sicherheit, bestmögliche Nutzung der Daten und Informationen über Forschungsergebnisse.

Cancer patients show a high willingness to make their clinical data available for research purposes, according to a new study. Patients demand high data security, best use of data, and information about research results obtained from clinical data.

­NFDI4Microbiota präsentiert vier neue Use Cases

NFDI4Microbiota hat derzeit sechs aktive Use Cases, von denen vier neu ausgewählt wurden. Auf dem NFDI4Microbiota Webportal erfahren Sie mehr über die einzelnen Use Cases und wie Sie dazu beitragen können. Außerdem können Sie sich auf den Use Case Showcase während der NFDI4Microbiota Konferenz am 9. November freuen. Hier werden der Projekthintergrund und die Kernziele der einzelnen Use Cases kurz vorgestellt und es besteht die Möglichkeit, Feedback zu geben, über weitere Kooperationen nachzudenken und Integrationsmöglichkeiten in NFDI4Microbiota zu diskutieren.

NFDI4Microbiota presents four new Use Cases

NFDI4Microbiota has currently six active Use Cases, four of which have recently been newly selected. Learn more about each Use Case and how you can contribute to it on the NFDI4Microbiota web portal or look forward to the Use Case Showcase during the NFDI4Microbiota conference on 9 November. Here, the project background and core aims of each Use Case will be shortly presented thereby providing the opportunity to give feedback, brainstorm further cooperation and discuss integration possibilities within NFDI4Microbiota.

PUNCH4NFDI User Umfragen

Zurzeit laufen vier Umfragen von PUNCH4NFDI. Zwei Umfragen beziehen sich allgemein auf das Thema Datenkompetenz. Speziell betrifft das zum einen Materialien und wiederkehrende Angebote in diesem Bereich, zum anderen Organisationen und Strukturen, die diese anbieten bzw. erstellen. Diese beiden Umfragen sind auf Deutsch. Außerdem führt das Konsortium eine Umfrage zur Verwendung von Simulationscodes im Bereich Astrophysik und eine Umfrage zum Thema Zugang zu Daten und Datenanalyse im Bereich der Teilchen- und Astrophysik durch. PUNCH4NFDI user surveys

The PUNCH4NFDI consortium recently launched four user surveys. Two surveys refer to education on data literacy (in German only). One survey addresses the usage of simulation codes in astrophysics. The last survey is addressed to the whole scientific community of PUNCH4NFDI and analyses the access to data and data analysis tools. More.

Positionspapier: Recht auf Datenzugang für öffentliche Forschung schafft gesellschaftlichen Mehrwert

Derzeit sind auf europäischer und nationaler Ebene Gesetzesvorhaben in der Diskussion, die den Zugang zu Daten regeln: Zum einen der europäische Data Act (Datengesetz) und zum anderen das deutsche Forschungsdatengesetz. Von großer Bedeutung für die Wissenschaft sind Regelungen, die den Zugang zu Daten in öffentlicher und privater Hand für öffentlich finanzierte Forschung gesetzlich regulieren. Die Konsortialversammlung des NFDI-Vereins unterstützt die Aufnahme eines direkten Datenzugangsrechts für die öffentliche Forschung und hat daher ein Positionspapier veröffentlicht. Mehr.

Position paper: Right to data access for public research creates additional value for society

There are currently legislative projects under discussion at European and national level that regulate access to data: On the one hand, the European Data Act and, on the other, the German Research Data Act. Of great importance for science are regulations that legally control access to data in public and private hands for publicly funded research. The Consortia Assembly of the NFDI Association supports the inclusion of a direct data access law for public research and has therefore published a position paper (German). More.

Mit einer neuen Publikation und App will GHGA Forschern helfen, zu bewerten, ob vor der DSGVO erfolgte Einwilligungen für eine neue Datenverarbeitung ausreichen.

NFDI4Ing RDMO Service jetzt verfügbar

RDMO ist eine Software, die bei der Planung des Datenmanagements eines Forschungsprojekts hilft. NFDI4Ing hat die Open Source Software angepasst und ergänzt, um die spezifischen Bedürfnisse von Ingenieurwissenschaftler:innen besser aufzugreifen. Unter rdmo.nfdi4ing.de ist nun eine RDMO-Instanz verfügbar, die Schritt für Schritt durch die Erstellung eines auf Ihr Forschungsprojekt zugeschnittenen Datenmanagementplans führt. Die Anleitung ist angereichert mit vielen Beispielen und Erläuterungen speziell für Forschende aus den Ingenieurwissenschaften. NFDI4Ing arbeitet daran, den Service weiter zu verbessern und anzupassen – wenn Sie Feedback haben, kontaktieren Sie gerne rdmo@nfdi4ing.de.

NFDI4Ing RDMO Service now available

RDMO is a software that assists in planning the data management of a research project. NFDI4Ing adapted and complemented the Open Source software to better support the specific needs of researchers working in the engineering sciences. The service provided at rdmo.nfdi4ing.de now includes a step-by-step guide that leads you through the process of creating a data management plan custom-made for your research project. The guide is enriched with tutorials and examples for researchers working in the engineering sciences. NFDI4Ing is looking to further improve and adapt the service – if you have any feedback, please contact rdmo@nfdi4ing.de.

Positionspapier von RatSWD veröffentlicht: Wissenschaft in Deutschland braucht ein Dateninstitut

Um in einer Zeit multipler Krisen politisch handlungsfähig zu sein, braucht es eine funktionierende Dateninfrastruktur. Der RatSWD unterstreicht die Notwendigkeit, ein Dateninstitut einzurichten aus Sicht der Wissenschaft. Ein solches Institut muss den Datenzugang und die Datenverknüpfung, im Einklang mit dem Datenschutz, für wissenschaftliche Zwecke ermöglichen. Nur so kann das Erkenntnispotenzial, das Daten bieten, vollumfänglich ausgeschöpft werden und gesellschaftlichen Mehrwert bieten. Hier geht es zum Positionspapier des RatSWD.

Position paper by German Data Forum: Scientific community in Germany needs a data institute

In times of multiple crises, a functioning data infrastructure is needed for evidence-based policy decisions. The German Data Forum (RatSWD) underlines the need for the establishment of a data institute from the science’s perspective. This must enable data access and data linkage for scientific purposes, in compliance with data protection regulations, to fully exploit the knowledge potential offered by data and thus offer added value to society. Stärkung des Zusammenhalts zwischen EOSC und NFDI

In der Rolle als Mandatierte Organisation in der EOSC-Association veranstaltet NFDI am 24. November 2022 von 10 bis 13 Uhr das EOSC National Tripartite Event Germany. Das Event findet virtuell auf Englisch statt. Die Anmeldung ist ab sofort möglich. Die Veranstaltung zielt darauf ab, die Beziehungen zwischen NFDI und EOSC zu stärken und auf eine breitere Basis zu stellen. Ziel ist es, Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen den beiden Initiativen und gegenseitige Erwartungen sowie Chancen der Zusammenarbeit unter Einbeziehung verschiedener Interessengruppen zu ermitteln.

Enhancing collaboration between the EOSC and the NFDI

In its role as a mandated organisation in the EOSC Association, NFDI hosts the German EOSC National Tripartite Event in collaboration with the EOSC Association on 24 November 2022 from 10 am to 1 pm. The event takes place virtually and the language is English. Registration is now open. The event aims to strengthen the ties between NFDI and EOSC and put them on a broader footing. The goal is to identify commonalities between the two initiatives and mutual expectations, as well as opportunities and added values of cooperation, with the involvement of various stakeholders.

Mitgliederversammlung des NFDI-Vereins: Hohe Beteiligung und Einigkeit bei Abstimmungen

Knapp 200 Personen waren bei der jährlichen Mitgliederversammlung des Vereins Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) e.V. am 19. Oktober virtuell anwesend. Die Entlastung der beiden Vorstände des Vereins, Eva Lübke (Kaufmännische Leiterin) und York Sure-Vetter (Direktor), wurde einstimmig beschlossen. Mehr.

NFDI Association General Assembly: Strong participation and unity in voting

Almost 200 people were virtually present at the General Assembly of the Association German National Research Data Infrastructure on 19 October. The formal discharge of the two board members of the association, Eva Lübke (Administrative Director) and York Sure-Vetter (Director), was unanimously approved. More.

ADCR22 – Annual Digital Catalysis & Catalysis-Related Sciences Conference 2022

Die Annual Digital Catalysis & Catalysis-Related Sciences Conference 2022 fand am 22. und 23. September in Frankfurt statt. Die Teilnehmer freuten sich über anregende Diskussionen, eine Poster Session, ein World Café und inspirierende internationale Vorträge. Das jährliche Treffen des NFDI4Cat-Konsortiums ist die Gelegenheit, die Zukunft der digitalen Katalyse zu gestalten und andere Wissenschaftler zu treffen, die dieses Wissenschaftsgebiet revolutionieren. The Annual Digital Catalysis & Catalysis-Related Sciences Conference 2022 took place in Frankfurt on 22 and 23 September. The participants enjoyed inspiring discussions, a Poster Session, a World Café and outstanding international lectures. The annual meeting of the NFDI4Cat-Consortium is a great opportunity to shape the future of digital catalysis and meet other scientists who are revolutionising this field of science. More.

FID Text+ Jour Fixe etabliert

Die geistes- und kulturwissenschaftlich ausgerichteten Fachinformationsdienste (FIDs) bilden eine wichtige Stakeholdergruppe für Text+. Sie fungieren als Mittler zwischen Infrastruktur und den Fachcommunitys, stellen den Zugang zu Spezialliteratur und forschungsrelevanten Informationen für ihre Nutzenden her und bedienen disziplinär gesehen eine ähnliche Zielgruppe wie Text+. Die Datendomänen von Text+ – Editionen, Sammlungen und lexikalischen Ressourcen – bilden ein wichtiges und potenziell fruchtbares Feld der Zusammenarbeit. Um diese zu gestalten, wurde im Zuge der Auftaktveranstaltung am 18.10.2022 mit dem maximal zweimal jährlich stattfindenden FID Text+ Jour Fixe nun ein dediziertes Format etabliert, das dem gegenseitigen Austausch dienen soll und Arbeitsbeziehungen herstellt. Der FID Text+ Jour Fixe möchte dabei bereits bestehende Formate, wie bspw. den FID Roundtable ergänzen. Mehr Infos hier.

FID Text+ Jour Fixe established

The specialist information services (FIDs) in the humanities and cultural studies are important stakeholders for the NFDI-consortium Text+. They act as mediators between infrastructure and the scholarly communities, provide access to specialized literature and research-relevant information for their users and, in disciplinary terms, serve a similar target group as does Text+. The Text+ data domains editions, collections and lexical resources are hereby important and potentially fruitful fields of collaboration. In order to establish this collaboration, a dedicated format has now been launched in the course of the kick-off event on 18.10.2022. The “FID Text+ Jour Fixe”, that will take place presumably twice a year, is intended to foster mutual exchange and to facilitate the desired work relations. It is not intended to replace existing formats, such as the FID Roundtable or event formats of other NFDI consortia, but to complement them. More information can be found here.

NFDI4Microbiota wird am 1. Biohackathon Deutschland teilnehmen

NFDI4Microbiota wird am 1. BioHackathon Germany, der von de.NBI organisiert wird, teilnehmen. Der Workshop ‘Extending the NFDI4Microbiota Knowledge Base‘ wird während der Veranstaltung vom 12. bis 16. Dezember 2022 in Wittenberg stattfinden. NFDI4Microbiota hat eine spezielle Wissensdatenbank initiiert, die Informationen zum Forschungsdatenmanagement und zur reproduzierbaren Datenanalyse im Bereich der Mikrobiologie enthalten wird. Die Wissensdatenbank wird in einem offenen, kollaborativen Prozess auf GitHub entwickelt und unter einer freien Lizenz (CC-BY 4.0) angeboten. Mehrere NFDI4Microbiota-Mitglieder werden am BioHackathon teilnehmen und diese Zeit für das Einpflegen von Inhalten nutzen und den Kontakt zur Community pflegen. Eine kostenfreie Anmeldung ist bis zum 25. November möglich.

NFDI4Microbiota will attend the 1st Biohackathon Germany

NFDI4Microbiota will attend the 1st BioHackathon Germany organized by de.NBI. The workshop ‘Extending the NFDI4Microbiota Knowledge Base’ will be held during the event from 12 to 16 December 2022 in Wittenberg. NFDI4Microbiota has initiated a dedicated Knowledge Base, which will contain information on Research Data Management and Reproducible Data Analysis in the broad field of microbiology. The Knowledge Base is developed in an open, collaborative process on GitHub and offered under a permissive license (CC-BY 4.0). Several NFDI4Microbiota members will participate in the BioHackathon and use that time as a content spring and meet the community. Free-of-charge registration is open until 25th of November.
