NFDI ist jetzt Mitglied der RDA

Seit Kurzem ist NFDI Mitglied der Research Data Alliance (RDA). Beide Initiativen streben in einem Community-getriebenen Ansatz eine gemeinsame Nutzung und Wiederverwendung von Datenschätzen an. Forschungsdatenmanagement ist eine internationale Aufgabe und so freuen wir uns auf den zukünftigen Austausch mit weiteren Akteuren aus dem Netzwerk.

NFDI is now member of RDA

NFDI recently became a member of the Research Data Alliance (RDA). Both initiatives aim to share and reuse data resources in a community-driven approach. Research data management is an international task and we look forward to future exchanges with other players in the network.

NFDI4Health startet zweite User-Survey

NFDI4Health lädt seine Community zur Teilnahme an der zweiten User-Survey ein. Ziel ist es, die Perspektive und Anforderungen der Forschenden zu erfassen und die Dienstleistungen von NFDI4Health entsprechend auszurichten und fortlaufend zu verbessern. Das NFDI4Health-Konsortium freut sich über Ihre Beteiligung bis zum 7. April 2024. Hier geht’s zur Survey.

NFDI4Health launches second user survey

NFDI4Health cordially invites its community to participate in its second user survey. The survey is designed to capture the perspectives and needs of the researchers and help NFDI4Health tailor and improve the services provided accordingly. Robin Lenz ist FAIR4Chem-Preisträger 2024

Yes, we can … hervorragende Chemiker:innen sein und FAIRe Daten veröffentlichen.

Wie in den vergangenen Jahren hat sich eine erfreuliche Anzahl von Chemiker:innen für den FAIR4Chem Award 2024 beworben – erfreulich, weil es zeigt, dass FAIRe Daten und exzellente Wissenschaft kein Widerspruch sind.

Dieses Jahr haben wir einen einzelnen Gewinner: Robin Lenz vom Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden. Er hat einen Datensatz zum Thema “Database of Raman and ATR-FTIR spectra of weathered and biofouled polymers” eingereicht.

NFDI4Chem freut sich darauf, den Preis am 14. März 2024 auf der Frühjahrstagung des Jungchemikerforums in Ulm zu verleihen.

Der FAIR4Chem Award 2024 zielt darauf ab, Chemiker:innen zu ermutigen, ihre Forschungsdaten gemäß den FAIR-Grundsätzen der chemischen Community offen zur Verfügung zu stellen. Zu diesem Zweck wird der beste Datensatz bzw. werden die besten Datensätze jedes Jahr mit 500 Euro prämiert (finanziert durch den Fonds der chemischen Industrie). Yes we can … be excellent chemists and publish FAIR data.

As in previous years, a pleasing number of chemists have applied for the FAIR4Chem Award 2024 – pleasing, because it shows that FAIR data and excellent science are not a contradiction in terms.

This year we have a single winner: Robin Lenz from the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden. He submitted a dataset on the topic “Database of Raman and ATR-FTIR spectra of weathered and biofouled polymers”.

NFDI4Chem looks forward to presenting the award to our winner on March 14, 2024 at the spring conference of the Young Chemists Forum in Ulm.

The FAIR4Chem Award 2024 aims to encourage chemists to make their research data openly available to the chemical community in accordance with the FAIR principles. Neue Initiative zum Benchmarking von NGS-Pipelines

GHGA begrüßt das BIH als Mitantragsteller

Das Berliner Institut für Gesundheitsforschung in der Charité (BIH) ist dem GHGA-Konsortium als neuer Mitantragsteller beigetreten. Gemeinsam mit dem MDC und der Charité wird das BIH einen GHGA Datenknoten in Berlin aufbauen. Mehr Informationen finden Sie hier.

The Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) has now joined the GHGA Consortium as a new Co-applicant institution. Together with MDC and Charité, the BIH will develop a GHGA Data hub in Berlin. More here.

Neue Features beim Datenannotationsdienst Antelope

Unterstützung bei der Annotation von Daten bietet der Dienst Antelope von NFDI4Culture. Antelope ermöglicht Terminologiesuche sowie Entity-Linking speziell für Vokabulare und Ontologien in den Kunst- und Geisteswissenschaften. In Kürze stellt das Tool durch die Integration von iArt erweiterte Möglichkeiten zur Klassifikation von Bildern bereit. In Planung sind außerdem neue Features mit der Integration von Wikibase.

Auf der DHd 2024 (26.02.-01.03. in Passau) erklärt das NFDI4Culture-Team im Rahmen eines Posters alle Funktionen, die Antelope zur Datenannotation zu bieten hat.

New features for the Antelope data annotation service

The Antelope service from NFDI4Culture provides support for the annotation of data. Antelope enables terminology searches and entity linking specifically for vocabularies and ontologies in the arts and humanities. The tool will soon provide extended options for classifying images through the integration of iArt. New features are also being planned with the integration of Wikibase.

At DHd 2024 (26.02.-01.03. in Passau), the NFDI4Culture team will be happy to explain all the functions Antelope has to offer for data annotation as part of a poster.

MaRDI Spiel – online und bei der GAMM

MaRDI hat das interaktive Online-Abenteuer Data Love Quest entwickelt. Auf einer mathematischen Konferenz treffen Sie auf verschiedene Mathematiker:innen. Finden Sie mehr über die verschiedenen Arten von mathematischen Forschungsdaten heraus und lösen Sie Aufgaben.
MaRDI wird auf der kommenden GAMM-Jahrestagung (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik), die vom 18. bis 22. März an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg stattfindet, einen Stand mit dem Spiel anbieten.
Das fünfminütige Spiel wurde ursprünglich für die Love Data Week 2024 veröffentlicht. Es ist Open Source und dient als Test für ein erweitertes Multiplayer-Spiel, das sich derzeit in der Entwicklung befindet.

MaRDI Game – online and at GAMM

MaRDI developed the fun interactive online adventure Data Love Quest. In this short game, you will find your character at a math conference, where you can interact with different mathematicians. Find out about their kind of mathematical research data and complete their quests.
MaRDI will offer a booth with the game at the upcoming GAMM annual meeting (International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics), held March 18 – 22 at Otto von Guericke Universität Magdeburg.
The five-minute game was initially published for Love Data Week 2024. It is open source and serves as a trial for an expanded multi-player game currently in development.

Ausschreibung zur Förderung von Kooperationsprojekten durch Text+

Das NFDI-Konsortium Text+ vergibt jährlich Fördergelder für Kooperationsprojekte mit dem Ziel, die Angebote an Daten und Services von Text+ kontinuierlich zu erweitern und für die Community der Forschenden langfristig verfügbar zu machen. Es ist auch möglich, dass Anträge gestellt werden, die bereits in Text+ vorhandene Angebote an Daten und Diensten in einer beispielhaften bzw. für das Text+ Angebotsportfolio nachnutzbaren Weise verwenden. Dazu werden auf maximal ein Kalenderjahr befristete Projekte gefördert, deren Ergebnisse in die Text+ Infrastruktur integriert werden. Anträge können bis zum 31. März 2024 gestellt werden. Call for Proposals for Collaborative Projects by Text+

The NFDI consortium Text+ annually allocates funding for collaborative projects aimed to continuously expand the offerings of data and services provided by Text+ and make them available to the research community in the long term. It is also possible for applications to submit projects that utilise data and services already available in Text+ in an exemplary manner or in a manner that can be reused for the Text+ portfolio of services. Applications can be submitted until March 31, 2024. You can find more information here.

Neue Vorlage für Anträge zur Base4NFDI-Initialisierungsphase

Base4NFDI hat die Version 3.0 der Antragsvorlage für die Initialisierungsphase für Basisdienstkandidaten veröffentlicht, die jetzt auf der Base4NFDI-Vorlagenseite zum Download bereitsteht. Zu den bemerkenswerten Aktualisierungen gehören die Hinzufügung eines Significance Abstracts und spezifischere Anleitungen zur Sammlung von Letters of Commitment. Diese Verbesserungen resultieren aus den Rückmeldungen von Antragsteams und NFDI-Konsortien und entsprechen dem Bestreben, den Antragsprozess kontinuierlich zu verbessern, um ihn schlanker und klarer zu gestalten. New template for Base4NFDI Initialisation Phase proposals

Base4NFDI has released version 3.0 of the Initialisation Phase proposal template for Basic Service candidates, now available for download on the Base4NFDI templates page. Notable updates include the addition of a Significance Abstract and more specific guidance on collecting Letters of Commitment. These improvements result from feedback from proposal teams and NFDI Consortia, aligning with the commitment to ongoing refinement for a streamlined and clearer proposal process. BERD@NFDI stellt Optical Character Recognition-Services vor

Das Konsortium BERD@NFDI bietet verschiedene OCR-Services an. Der OCR Recommender stellt gezielte Fragen zu Ihrem OCR-Projekt und bietet individuelle Anleitungen von der Bildverbesserung bis zur Datenextraktion. Ob historische akademische oder sensible Geschäftsdaten – der OCR-Empfehler bietet spezifisch angepasste Lösungen für Ihre individuellen Anforderungen.

Jeden 2. Donnerstag im Monat, von 15 bis 16 Uhr, findet die OCR-Beratungsstunde statt. Dies ist ein monatliches Zoom-Meeting mit Expert:innen der Universitätsbibliotheken Mannheim und Tübingen, in dem Sie persönliche Antworten auf Ihre Fragen rund ums Thema OCR erhalten können. Eine innovative Plattform zum Zugriff und zur Analyse von Online-Dokumenten bietet der BERD OCR Viewer. Laden Sie gescannte Dokumente einfach über eine METS-Datei für sofortigen Volltextzugriff. Der OCR Viewer bereitet eine auf Inhalt und Kontext des Dokuments angepasste Ansicht von unzureichendem oder fehlendem Text. Mehr Details hier.

BERD@NFDI introduces Optical Character Recognition Services

The BERD@NFDI consortium offers various OCR services. The OCR Recommender is your go-to solution for simplified OCR projects. This service asks targeted questions to understand your project’s nuances, providing tailored guidance from image enhancement to data extraction. Whether it is historical academia or sensitive business data, the OCR Recommener offers customized solutions for your unique needs.

Every 2nd Thursday of the month, from 3 to 4 pm, the OCR consultation hour takes place. This is a monthly Zoom meetup with experts from Mannheim and Tübingen University Libraries, where you can get personalized guidance on OCR topics, perfect for troubleshooting and discovering innovative solutions for your projects. An innovative platform for accessing and analyzing online documents is the BERD OCR Viewer. Easily load scanned documents via METS file for instant full-text access. Plus, initiate OCR for documents with inadequate or absent text, with predefined workflows for optimal output tailored to each document’s content and context. More details here.

EOSC Symposium: Call für Unconference Session

Vom 21.-23. Oktober 2024 findet das EOSC Symposium in Berlin im H4 Hotel Alexanderplatz statt. Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung wird es eine Unconference Session geben, zu welcher Beiträge eingereicht werden können. Die Unconference Session ist themenorientiert und soll Beiträge beinhalten, die relevant im EOSC Kontext sind.

Beiträge können noch bis zum 18. März 2024 (17:00 Uhr MEZ) eingereicht werden. Weitere Informationen finden Sie hier. Bei Fragen wenden Sie sich bitte an symposium2024@eosc.eu.

EOSC Symposium: Call for Unconference Session

The EOSC Symposium will take place in Berlin at the H4 Hotel Alexanderplatz from 21-23 October 2024. As part of the event, there will be an Unconference Session to which contributions can be submitted. The unconference session is topic-oriented and should include contributions that are relevant in the EOSC context.
