Förderung für Basisdienst nfdi.software

In der fünften Ausschreibungsrunde von Base4NFDI hat der Basisdienstantrag nfdi.software die Zusage von der NFDI-Konsortialversammlung für eine einjährige Initialisierungsphase erhalten.

Der Dienst stellt eine Erweiterung der NFDI-Initiative zum Aufbau von Basisdiensten für Konsortien dar und ist ein weiterer Schritt nach vorn in den Bemühungen, FDM-fähige Dienste aus der gesamten deutschen Forschungslandschaft zu schaffen.

nfdi.software zielt auf einen zentralen Marktplatz für Forschungssoftware ab, der Zugang zu Daten gewährt, die durch spezifische Programme unmittelbar zugänglich gemacht werden, sowie eine komplexere Nachnutzung der Metadaten und Software bietet. 

Das Base4NFDI-Team freut sich und ermutigt die NFDI-Community, sich an diesem Vorhaben zu beteiligen, indem sie sich aktiv in den NFDI-Sektionen einbringt!

Funding for basic service nfdi.software

We are delighted to announce that the nfdi.software proposal has been accepted for funding of the initialisation phase following the Consortia Assembly’s decision.

This marks a growth in NFDI’s initiative to build basic services for consortia and demonstrates a step forward in the efforts to create RDM-enabling services from across the German research landscape.

nfdi.software aims to design, implement, and test a central marketplace for research software to improve the accessibility of NFDI research data via domain-specific software and enable more complex reuse of metadata and software.

Base4NFDI is looking forward to what’s ahead of us and encourages the NFDI community to join this endeavour by actively participating in the NFDI sections!

GHGA und NFDI4Health stärken Zusammenarbeit mit MoU

GHGA und NFDI4Health werden ihre Zusammenarbeit intensivieren, um neue Möglichkeiten für Datenanalysen zu entwickeln. So soll die Nutzung von persönlichen Gesundheitsdaten in der Wissenschaft vorangetrieben und letztendlich die Gesundheit der Bevölkerung verbessert werden. Portal für digitalisiertes Sammlungsgut aus kolonialen Kontexten: Vollversion online

Das Online-Portal „Sammlungsgut aus kolonialen Kontexten“ der Deutschen Digitalen Bibliothek (DDB) stellt einen zentralen Zugang zu digitalisiertem Sammlungsgut aus kolonialen Kontexten bereit. Es steht nun als Vollversion zur Verfügung, mit zunächst 110.000 Einträgen von 26 Partnerinstitutionen.

Die Zusammenarbeit mit NFDI4Culture bei der Erarbeitung eines bedarfsgerechten Anwendungsprofils für LIDO (internationales Format zur Bereitstellung von beschreibenden Informationen zu digitalisierten Kulturerbe-Objekten), welches die Interoperabilität der Sammlungsdaten in übergeordneten Zusammenhängen gewährleistet, beschreibt eine NFDI4Culture Success Story.

Mit dem Portal soll Transparenz über die Bestände an Sammlungsgut aus kolonialen Kontexten in deutschen Museen und Wissenseinrichtungen geschaffen und der Dialog mit Herkunftsländern weltweit ermöglicht werden. Portal for digitised collection items from colonial contexts: Full version online

The online portal ‘Collections from colonial contexts’ of the German Digital Library (DDB) provides central access to digitised collections from colonial contexts. It is now available as a full version, initially with 110,000 entries from 26 partner institutions.

The collaboration with NFDI4Culture in the development of a needs-based application profile for LIDO (international format for the provision of descriptive information on digitised cultural heritage objects), which ensures the interoperability of collection data in superordinate contexts, describes a NFDI4Culture success story.

The portal aims to create transparency about the inventories of collection items from colonial contexts in German museums and knowledge institutions and to facilitate dialogue with the countries of origin worldwide. It can be used free of charge and without registration. Further details in the DDB press release.

NFDI4DS gibt seine erste Ontologie-Version heraus

Ontologien sind geordnete Darstellungen von Begriffen und ihren Beziehungen. Sie werden dazu genutzt, Wissen in digitalisierter und formaler Form zwischen Prozessen und Diensten auszutauschen.

Die NFDI4DS Ontology (nfdi4dso) beschreibt verschiedene Ressourcen (Datensätze, Personen, Projekte und weitere Einheiten) innerhalb der Domäne NFDI4DS.

nfdi4dso ist ein Modul, das auf der NFDIcore Ontology aufbaut und mit der Basic Formal Ontology abgeglichen wird.

Diese Entwicklung ermöglicht es, Informationen in maschinenlesbarer Form zu halten, bestehende Wissensbestände zusammenzufügen, in ihnen zu suchen und darauf Dienste zur Datenintegration aufzubauen.

NFDI4DS released its first ontology version

Ontologies are ordered descriptions of terms and their relations. They are used to exchange knowledge in digitized and formalized manner between processes and services.

The NFDI4DS ontology (nfdi4dso) describes various resources (datasets, persons, projects and other entities) within the domain of NFDI4DS.

nfdi4dso is a module that builds upon the NFDIcore Ontology and maintains alignment with the Basic Formal Ontology.

This development enables holding the information in machine-readable form, assembling existing knowledge bases, searching within, and building services upon them.

Aufruf zum Einreichen von Beiträgen für den NFDI4BIOIMAGE Wandkalender 2025

Der NFDI4BIOIMAGE-Kalender ist Teil der Schulungsmaterialien und der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, die das Bewusstsein für den Umgang mit FAIR aufbereiteten Daten im Bereich Bioimaging fördern und die Nutzung von Werkzeugen und Diensten für FAIRe Bilddaten erleichtern soll. Für die Edition des Kalenders 2025 lädt NFDI4BIOIMAGE zum Einreichen von Beiträgen aus der wissenschaftlichen Gemeinschaft ein. Teilen Sie Ihre Bilddaten – angereichert mit Metadaten und für die Nachnutzung bereit. Vielleicht erscheinen sie schon im nächsten Jahr im NFDI4BIOIMAGE-Wandkalender. Submit your FAIR images to the NFDI4BIOMAGE wall calendar 2025

The NFDI4BIOIMAGE calendar is part of the consortium‘s educational materials and outreach efforts aimed at promoting awareness of FAIR data handling in bioimaging and facilitating the use of tools and services for FAIR image data. For the 2025 edition, NFDI4BIOIMAGE calls for contributions from the community. Submit your images, learn how to annotate and share them to be FAIR compliant and find them next year in the NFDI4BIOIMAGE wall calendar. Find more information and a cherry on top here.

NFDI4Memory startet Promovierendennetzwerk

NFDI4Memory will mit seinem “Promovierendennetzwerk Digital History” helfen, Digital-History-Promovierende zu vernetzen und dabei gemeinsam mit ihnen und ihren Betreuer:innen die digital-historische Promotionskultur gestalten.

Als Startschuss des Netzwerks findet ein dreitägiges Kickoff-Retreat vom 30.09. bis 02.10.2024 auf dem Kemper Hof in Brandenburg unter dem Motto „Promotionskultur x Datenkultur: Wie promovieren wir digital-historisch?“ statt. NFDI4Memory launches “Promovierendennetzwerk”

With its “Promovierendennetzwerk Digital History”, NFDI4Memory wants to help connect digital history doctoral candidates and shape the digital history doctoral culture together with them and their supervisors.

The network will kick off with a three-day retreat from 30.09. to 02.10.2024 at the Kemper Hof in Brandenburg under the motto “Promotionskultur x Datenkultur: Wie promovieren wir digital-historisch?”. GerBI-GMB, Mitantragstellerin in NFDI4BIOIMAGE, unterstützt die weltweite Harmonisierung von Bild-Metadaten beim FoundingGIDE Hackathon

FoundingGIDE ist ein von der EU finanziertes Projekt zur weltweiten Harmonisierung von Ontologien und Metadaten in der Bildgebung, mit dem Ziel ein globales Bilddaten-Ökosystems aufzubauen. Es wird von Euro-BioImaging ERIC geleitet. Als Mitantragstellerin in NFDI4BIOIMAGE und Partner in FoundingGIDE trägt German BioImaging – Gesellschaft für Mikroskopie und Bildanalyse e.V. (GerBI-GMB) zur Harmonisierung und internationalen Integration innerhalb der globalen Bildgebungsgemeinschaft bei.

Der FoundingGIDE BioImage Hackathon zielt darauf ab, die globale Harmonisierung von Bildgebungsmetadaten und deren Integration in next-generation file formats voranzutreiben. Der Hackathon findet vom 4. bis 8. November 2024 in Kobe, Japan, statt. Zuvor ist das Global BioImaging Exchange of Experience Meeting 2024 in Kyoto.

NFDI4BIOIMAGE co-applicant GerBI-GMB contributes to global image metadata harmonization at the FoundingGIDE hackathon

FoundingGIDE is an EU-funded endeavor to harmonize ontologies and metadata in bioimaging across the globe, i.e., to build a Global Image Data Ecosystem (GIDE), spearheaded by Euro-BioImaging ERIC. As a co-applicant in NFDI4BIOIMAGE and partner in FoundingGIDE, German BioImaging – Gesellschaft für Mikroskopie und Bildanalyse e.V. (GerBI-GMB) contributes to the harmonization and international integration within the global imaging communities.

The FoundingGIDE BioImage Hackathon aims to advance the global harmonization of imaging metadata and its integration into next-generation file formats. The event will take place in Kobe, Japan, from November 4th to 8th, 2024, and is preceded by the Global BioImaging Exchange of Experience Meeting 2024 in Kyoto the prior week.
