GHGA unterzeichnet erste bilaterale Central-to-Data-Hub-Verträge

Um den föderalen Aufbau von GHGA für künftige GHGA-Nutzende leichter zugänglich zu machen, wurden zwischen dem Deutschen Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) und der TU Dresden sowie zwischen dem DKFZ und der Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (EKUT) bilaterale Central-to-Data-Hub-Verträge unterzeichnet. Sie ermöglichen es den GHGA Data Hubs, Daten zu archivieren, ohne dass die Datenübermittler separate Verträge mit jedem GHGA Data Hub abschließen müssen. Ein einziger Datenverarbeitungsvertrag mit GHGA Central reicht aus, um Daten zu speichern. Lesen Sie hier mehr.

GHGA signs first Central-to-Data Hub Bilateral Contracts

Making the federated nature of GHGA more easily accessible for future GHGA users, Central-to-Data Hub Bilateral Contracts have been signed between the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and TU Dresden, and between the DKFZ and the University of Tübingen (EKUT). They enable GHGA Data Hubs to support GHGA Central with archiving data without Data Submitters needing to have separate contracts with each GHGA Data Hub. A single Data Processing Contract with GHGA Central will suffice for data to be stored. Read more here.

Daten für die Zukunft: RatSWD legt Arbeitsschwerpunkte für drei Jahre fest

Der Rat für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten (RatSWD), der Teil von KonsortSWD ist, wird sich in seiner 8. Berufungsperiode (2023-2026) mit Lösungsansätzen für die Verfügbarmachung und Verknüpfung verschiedener Arten von Daten beschäftigen. In fünf Arbeitsgruppen sollen Empfehlungen zu Gesundheitsdaten, Daten für Krisen, Unternehmensdaten, Politikdaten und einem Datentreuhändermodell für die Wissenschaft entstehen. Data for the future: RatSWD sets strategic agenda for three years

In its eighth appointment period (2023-2026), the German Data Forum (Rat für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten, RatSWD), which is part of KonsortSWD, will focus on solutions for making different types of data available and linking them. Five working groups will develop recommendations on health data, data for crises, company data, policy data and a data trustee model for science. “ASR4Memory” is looking for further pilot users

The 4Memory Incubator Funds project “ASR4Memory” is looking for further pilot users for the automated transcription of audiovisual resources. You are welcome to provide your AV data temporarily, which will be processed locally and securely and deleted at the end of the project. You will receive the generated transcriptions in various export formats for your further use.

KonsortSWD: Englische Übersetzung des Outputs zu unstrukturierten Daten veröffentlicht

Der RatSWD hat seinen Output „Erhebung und Nutzung unstrukturierter Daten in den Sozial-, Verhaltens- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften“ nun auch in englischer Version veröffentlicht. Die Publikation wurde von der Arbeitsgruppe „Herausforderungen bei der wissenschaftlichen Erhebung und Nutzung unstrukturierter Daten“ der im Sommer 2023 abgeschlossenen 7. NFDI4Memory schreibt erstmals FAIR Data Fellowships aus

NFDI4Memory unterstützt mit den FAIR Data Fellowships bei der Aufbereitung von historischen Forschungsdaten. Sie erhalten Beratung zu den FAIR-Prinzipien, geeigneten Strukturierungsmöglichkeiten sowie zu passenden Repositorien für die Publikation ihrer Forschungsdaten. Am Ende des Fellowships sollte ein strukturiertes und publikationsfähiges Datenset stehen. Die Bewerbung ist noch bis zum 2. NFDI4Memory announces FAIR Data Fellowships for the first time

With the FAIR Data Fellowships, NFDI4Memory supports the preparation of historical research data. They receive advice on the FAIR principles, suitable structuring options and suitable repositories for the publication of their research data. At the end of the fellowship, a structured and publishable data set should be available. NFDI4DS richtet Shared Tasks auf internationalen Konferenzen aus

Die NFDI4DS Shared Tasks bieten für die NFDI4DS Community herausfordernde und wissenschaftlich interessante Aufgaben an. NFDI4DS organisiert derzeit ein umfangreiches Programm an Shared Tasks. Es stellt jeden Shared Task gemeinsam mit einem Datensatz zur Verfügung. Derzeit können drei Shared Tasks im Rahmen von einschlägigen Konferenzen bearbeitet werden:

Auf der ESWC 2024 (The Extended Semantic Web Conference) organisiert das Konsortium einen Workshop zu Natural Scientific Language Processing and Research Knowledge Graphs (NSLP 2024), welcher zwei NFDI4DS Shared Tasks anbietet: SOMD: Software Mention Detection in Scholarly Publications und FoRC: Field of Research Classification of Scholarly Publications.

Auf der CLEF 2024 (Conference and Labs of the Evaluation Forum) bietet NFDI4DS ein Lab zu Automatic Simplification of Scientific Texts (SimpleText 2024) an, welches einen NFDI4DS Shared Task bereitstellt: SOTA?: Tracking the State-of-the-Art in Scholarly Publications.

NFDI4DS organizes Shared Tasks at international conferences

The NFDI4DS Shared Tasks provide a framework for scientifically exciting and challenging tasks for the NFDI4DS community. NFDI4DS is currently organizing an extensive line-up of Shared Tasks. It provides each shared task together with a dataset. Currently, three shared tasks are running in the context of well-known conferences:

Eindrücke vom NFDI4Culture-Terminology-Forum: Herausforderungen und Perspektiven von Linked-Open-Data-Terminologien

Kontrollierte Vokabulare, Normdaten und Anwendungsontologien sind Schlüsselelemente für FAIRe Forschungsdaten. Das NFDI4Culture-Online-Forum “Brücken schlagen zwischen Terminologien: Herausforderungen und Perspektiven” am 20./21.3.2024 diente zur Standortbestimmung der Anwendungspraxis und zu den Perspektiven einer gemeinsamen erleichterten Integration von Linked-Open-Data-Vokabularen.

Die Ansätze der geisteswissenschaftlichen NFDI-Konsortien stießen auf großes Interesse: Von 260 angemeldeten Personen beteiligten sich bereits am ersten Forumstag rund 180 Teilnehmende an der Veranstaltung. Das Bedürfnis, den Umgang mit Terminologien zu erlernen und vom Wissen anderer Spezialist:innen zu profitieren, war ebenso groß wie der Wunsch nach schnelleren und einfacheren Herangehensweisen, z.B. in Bezug auf Normdatenentwicklung. Diskussionsräume boten Gelegenheit, Punkte zu fixieren, bei denen zukünftige Services ansetzen sollten, um das Potential gemeinsam genutzter Terminologien zu entfalten.

Impressions from the NFDI4Culture Terminology Forum: Challenges and Perspectives of Linked Open Data Terminologies

Controlled vocabularies, standardised data and application ontologies are key elements for FAIR research data. The NFDI4Culture online forum “Building bridges between terminologies: Challenges and Perspectives” on 20/21 March 2024 served to map out the current state of application practice and the prospects for jointly facilitating the integration of linked open data vocabularies.

The approaches of the humanities NFDI consortia met with great interest: Out of 260 registered participants, around 180 took part in the event on the first day of the forum. The need to learn how to deal with terminologies and to benefit from the knowledge of other specialists was just as great as the desire for faster and simpler approaches, e.g. in relation to the development of standardised data. Discussion rooms provided an opportunity to identify points where future services should start in order to realise the potential of shared terminologies.

NFDI4Earth @ EGU 2024 – Standpräsentation und -partizipation

NFDI4Earth wird auf einer der größten internationalen Konferenzen der Geowissenschaften einen Messestand unterhalten (Nr. 19 auf der Karte): der Generalversammlung der European Geosciences Union vom 14. bis 19. April 2024 in Wien.

NFDI4Earth wird in Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen Partnern des Konsortiums und darüber hinaus die ganze Woche über ein interessantes Programm anbieten.

NFDI4Earth @ EGU 2024 – Booth Presentation ad participation

NFDI4Earth will have a Booth Presentation (#19 on the map) during one of the largest international Geosciences conferences: the European Geosciences Union General Assembly from 14 – 19 April 2024 in Vienna.

NFDI4Earth will offer an interesting programme throughout the whole week – in cooperation with various partners from the consortium and beyond.

Text+ Frühjahrstreffen

Am 12. und 13. März versammelte sich das NFDI-Konsortium Text+ zu seinem Frühjahrstreffen in der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek in Frankfurt am Main. Der erste Tag des Frühjahrstreffens war geprägt von thematischen Arbeitstreffen, die sich auf verschiedene Aspekte konzentrierten. Dazu gehörten beispielsweise Diskussionen zur Weiterentwicklung der Text+-Architektur, insbesondere die Analyse der wesentlichen technischen Komponenten und ihrer Funktionen. Ebenso wurde der aktuelle Stand der Text+ Registry, einem zentralen Baustein des Projekts, der die Auffindbarkeit von Ressourcen verbessert und eine nahtlose Integration mit anderen Infrastrukturen ermöglicht, präsentiert. Des Weiteren wurden die Ingest-Prozesse in den Text+-Datenzentren beleuchtet, mit dem Ziel, sie transparent und benutzerfreundlich zu gestalten, wobei Themen wie Datenformate, Qualitätsbewertung, Lizenzierung und die Zusammenführung von Nutzenden und Datenzentren diskutiert wurden. Am zweiten Tag des Treffens standen die Meetings der Text+ Task Areas im Mittelpunkt, in denen spezifische Arbeitsbereiche vertieft behandelt wurden. Insgesamt war das diesjährige Frühjahrstreffen äußerst produktiv und lieferte wertvolle Impulse für die weitere Entwicklung von Text+.

Text+ Spring Meeting

On March 12 and 13, the NFDI consortium Text+ convened for its spring meeting at the German National Library in Frankfurt am Main. The first day featured thematic working sessions addressing various topics, including the ongoing development of the Text+ architecture, particularly focusing on key technical components and their functionalities. Additionally, updates on the Text+ registry, a key component of the Text+ infrastructure enhancing resource findability and integration with other infrastructures, were provided. Discussions also centered on improving transparency and user-friendliness for ingest processes in Text+ data centers, covering areas such as data formats, quality assessment, licensing, and user and data center connection. The second day focused on meetings of the Text+ task areas, delving into their specific work domains. Overall, this year’s meeting proved highly productive, offering valuable impulses for Text+’s ongoing development.

NFDI4Microbiota startet neue Coffee-Talk-Reihe und Ambassador-Programm für 2024

NFDI4Microbiota freut sich, den Relaunch der Coffee Talk Series und des Ambassador-Programms anzukündigen, die die Zusammenarbeit und das Engagement innerhalb der Community fördern sollen.

Der NFDI4Microbiota Coffee Talk ist eine zweimonatliche Online-Vortragsreihe, die sich mit verschiedenen Aspekten von Daten, Analysediensten und Daten-/Metadatenstandards in der mikrobiologischen Forschung beschäftigt. Jede Sitzung bietet einen knappen Überblick über ein bestimmtes Thema und bietet ausreichend Zeit für Fragen und Diskussionen. Die Reihe steht allen offen, die sich für das Forschungsdatenmanagement in der mikrobiologischen Forschung interessieren. Der Coffee Talk von NFDI4Microbiota findet jeden zweiten Montag im Monat von 15:30-16:30 Uhr MESZ online statt.

Das NFDI4Microbiota-Ambassador-Programm motiviert Mitarbeitende und Nachwuchswissenschaftler:innen in der Mikrobiologie, die FAIR-Prinzipien für Daten und Open Science zu unterstützen. Die Botschafter engagieren sich für mindestens ein Jahr und erhalten Zugang zu Schulungsveranstaltungen, Vernetzungsmöglichkeiten und Unterstützung bei der Organisation von lokalen Workshops. Sie werden über Newsletter auf dem Laufenden gehalten, erhalten Stellenausschreibungen innerhalb des Konsortiums und leisten einen aktiven Beitrag, indem sie Feedback geben und an den zweimonatlichen Sitzungen und persönlichen Veranstaltungen teilnehmen. Das Programm fungiert als wichtiges Bindeglied zwischen NFDI4Microbiota und den lokalen Gemeinschaften und fördert ein unterstützendes Netzwerk im Bereich der Mikrobiologie. NFDI4Microbiota relaunches Coffee Talk Series and Ambassador Program for 2024

NFDI4Microbiota is pleased to announce the relaunch of its Coffee Talk Series and its Ambassador Program, designed to foster collaboration and engagement within the community.

The NFDI4Microbiota Coffee Talk is a bi-monthly online lecture series dedicated to exploring various facets of data, analysis services and data/metadata standards in microbiology research. Each session will provide a concise overview of a specific topic, with plenty of time for questions and discussion. The series is open to anyone with an interest in research data management for microbiology research. The NFDI4Microbiota coffee talk takes place online on the last Monday of every second month, 15:30-16:30 CEST.

The NFDI4Microbiota Ambassador Program engages staff and early career researchers in microbiology to promote the FAIR data principles and open science. Ambassadors commit to a minimum of one year and receive access to training events, networking opportunities, and support in organizing local workshops. They are kept informed through newsletters, receive job notifications within the consortium and actively contribute by providing feedback and attending bi-monthly meetings and face-to-face events. The program acts as a vital link between NFDI4Microbiota and local communities, fostering a supportive network within the field of microbiology. DAPHNE4NFDI und FAIRmat gemeinsam auf der DPG Frühjahrstagung 2024

DAPHNE4NFDI und FAIRmat waren gemeinsam mit einem Ausstellungsstand auf der DPG Frühjahrstagung der Sektion Kondensierte Materie vom 19. bis 21. März 2024 vertreten. Die Konsortien haben die drei Tage im Ausstellungsbereich genutzt, um mit Forschenden aller Karrierestufen über die Arbeit und die Vision der Konsortien, über Tools und Services sowie über NFDI ins Gespräch zu kommen. Außerdem konnten sich DAPHNE4NFDI und FAIRmat untereinander noch besser vernetzen.

DAPHNE4NFDI and FAIRmat were jointly represented with a booth at the DPG Spring Conference of the Condensed Matter Section from 19 to 21 March 2024. We used the three days in the exhibition area to talk to researchers at all career levels about our work and the vision of the consortia, our tools and services, and the NFDI. DAPHNE4NFDI and FAIRmat were also able to network better with each other.
