(Published on 21.03.2023) The first round of funded NFDI consortia will be evaluated by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in 2023. This will be based on interim reports from the consortia. The second and third funding rounds will follow in the next two years.
In addition, the German Council of Science and Humanities (“Wissenschaftsrat”, WR) will examine the effectiveness and success of NFDI through a structural evaluation starting in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The NFDI Task Force for Evaluation and Reporting (formerly the Task Force Monitoring) is working on the preparation of the interim reports of the consortia and the structural evaluation of NFDI. For this purpose, members of the task force wrote the white paper “Interim Report Reference”. The paper creates a basis for the consortia’s interim reports to DFG through jointly agreed definitions of cross-consortium topics.
At its meeting on 13 January 2023, the consortium assembly unanimously decided that the white paper should be used for reporting to the DFG. As part of the decision, the Consortia Assembly encouraged the strengthening of cross-consortia collaboration in this area and invites all interested consortia to send staff to the Task Force.
You can download the complete white paper at Zenodo.
